The Documentation Standards Griffith University Applies to Medical Certificates
Griffith University says openly that it checks certificates for authenticity. That makes how your document is issued as important as what it says.

Griffith University applications for special consideration are lodged online no later than three working days after the exam date or the assessment due date. Griffith University states that it regularly checks medical certificates, letters and supporting documents to verify their authenticity and accuracy. Its published documentation standards require certificates on official medical centre or practitioner letterhead, with a provider number and stamp, free of handwritten amendments, and specifying the relevant dates.
Griffith University actively verifies documents, and says so
Most universities reserve the right to verify. Griffith University's assessment applications page states openly that it regularly checks medical certificates, letters and supporting documents for authenticity and accuracy, and warns that altering, amending or falsifying documentation may result in formal disciplinary action under the Student Charter.
The practical implication is presentational as much as clinical. A certificate that looks irregular invites scrutiny even when it is genuine. A properly issued student certificate with a verifiable practitioner and a certificate reference is the safer document to submit.
Letterhead, provider number, stamp, and no handwriting on top
Griffith University's published documentation standards require medical certificates on official medical centre or practitioner letterhead, including a provider number and stamp, free of handwritten amendments, and specifying the relevant dates. Handwritten corrections on a printed certificate are specifically called out, so if a date is wrong, ask for a reissued certificate rather than a corrected one.
Three working days from the assessment
You must lodge applications online no later than three working days after the exam date or the due date of the assessment item.
What the certificate should state
Griffith University's guidance on medical evidence looks for the date the examination by the health practitioner took place, the dates on which you were unfit, and a statement of the practitioner's opinion, such as that you were not fit for duty or were suffering from a medical condition.
Special consideration does not apply to a re-attempt
You can apply for special consideration where your performance in an assessment item was seriously affected, or you were seriously disadvantaged. It does not apply to an assessment item you have re-attempted or resubmitted.
Overseas certificates are generally not accepted if you are here
Griffith University does not accept international medical certificates for students residing in Australia, unless the student fell ill while overseas.

Submit a certificate that verifies cleanly
Book a consultation and make sure the certificate is issued on practice letterhead with the practitioner's details intact.
