Important Clinical & Legal Limits

The detail behind each limit, so you know exactly what to expect before you book.

01

We cannot guarantee a certificate will be issued

Every consultation on the OMC Health platform involves a real, independent clinical assessment by an AHPRA-registered GP. The GP has full clinical discretion. Completing a booking does not guarantee that a certificate will be issued.

If the GP determines that issuing a certificate is not clinically appropriate, for any reason, you will receive a full refund and written notification. We cannot override or influence the GP's clinical decision, and we would not do so even if asked.

02

We cannot issue certificates without a real-time consultation

OMC Health does not issue certificates based on questionnaires, written symptom descriptions, or automated assessments alone. Every certificate requires a real-time consultation with an AHPRA-registered GP. This is a non-negotiable requirement under AHPRA's telehealth guidelines.

If you are looking for an instant, no-consult certificate service, OMC Health is not the right platform for you.

03

We cannot guarantee third-party acceptance

OMC Health certificates are issued by AHPRA-registered GPs following a real-time consultation. They are valid medical documents. However, OMC Health cannot guarantee that your employer, educational institution, insurer, government body, or any other third party will accept the certificate.

Acceptance depends entirely on that party's own policies. We recommend checking with your employer or institution before booking if you are uncertain whether they accept telehealth-issued certificates.

04

We cannot provide ongoing medical care

OMC Health is a certificate service. The GPs who conduct consultations on our platform are not your regular doctors and cannot take ongoing clinical responsibility for your health. If you need ongoing medical care, monitoring, treatment, or a referral to a specialist, please contact your regular GP or a medical practice directly.

OMC Health consultations are a single, focused clinical encounter for the purpose of assessing a certificate request, not a substitute for continuing medical care.

05

We cannot provide a diagnosis

The GPs on our platform assess your situation in the context of your certificate request. They may note symptoms and make clinical observations, but an OMC Health consultation is not a substitute for a comprehensive medical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment plan from your regular doctor.

06

We cannot guarantee same-day delivery in all circumstances

Most certificates are delivered on the same day as the consultation. However, same-day delivery depends on:

  • GP availability at your requested time
  • The time of your booking, consultations close to midnight AEST may deliver the following morning
  • Technical delays outside OMC Health's control

We aim for same-day delivery in all cases but cannot guarantee it unconditionally.

07

We cannot backdate certificates

A certificate may cover a period prior to the consultation date if the GP can clinically assess that you were unwell during that earlier period. However, the consultation date will always appear on the certificate. OMC Health does not issue certificates that misrepresent the date of the clinical assessment, and the GP cannot certify a period they did not assess in real time.

Requesting a certificate to cover a period the GP cannot clinically support constitutes misrepresentation and may be declined by the GP.

08

We cannot accept all patients

OMC Health may not be appropriate for all patients or all situations. Our GPs may decline to proceed with a consultation or certificate in circumstances including:

  • The patient's clinical situation requires in-person assessment
  • The patient is in an acute mental health crisis
  • The patient is a minor and a parent or guardian is not present
  • The patient's request does not meet the clinical threshold for a certificate
  • The patient has provided false or misleading information
In a mental health crisis, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).
09

We cannot provide legal or financial advice

OMC Health and its partner GPs cannot provide advice about your legal rights in relation to your employer, workers' compensation insurer, educational institution, or any other party. Information on this website is general in nature and does not constitute legal or financial advice. If you need advice about your entitlements, please consult an appropriate professional.

Clinical Boundaries

Our GPs follow strict clinical guidelines and may decline a request if:

  • There is insufficient information to make a safe assessment
  • The request is not clinically appropriate
  • The document is outside our scope
  • It may pose a risk to your health or safety

The final decision always rests with the consulting GP. Patient safety comes first.

Important Notes

  • All requests are assessed individually.
  • Providing false or misleading information may result in declined requests.
  • We reserve the right to decline any request at the GP's clinical discretion.
  • Our limits may change to reflect updates in laws, regulations and clinical standards.
  • These limits help us maintain a safe, ethical and legally compliant service.

Questions about whether we can help?

If you are unsure whether OMC Health is the right service for your situation, contact us before booking. We would rather help you find the right service than have you go through a consultation that cannot result in a certificate.

Refunded when a certificate isn't issued

OMC Health is a focused medical certificate service, not an emergency, prescription, referral, diagnosis or ongoing-care service. Every certificate request requires a real-time consultation with an AHPRA-registered GP, and issuance is never guaranteed. A doctor may decline a request when telehealth is unsuitable, information is insufficient or the request falls outside the service's clinical scope.
